Mariah Carey hints at release of unreleased grunge project

Singer Mariah Carey teased the possible future release of her unreleased grunge album during a Reddit "Ask Me Anything" session on October 30, 2026. Billboard and inmusicblog.com both report that Carey responded to fan questions about the long-shelved project, which she stated she gets asked about roughly once a week. [1][2]

The online interaction with fans occurred in connection with the 25th anniversary of her album Glitter. According to Billboard, Carey also addressed questions regarding her pets and discussed whether she would ever collaborate on a song with musician Lenny Kravitz during the same chat. [1]

Carey previously issued rare material on October 2, 2020, when Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings released her seventh compilation album, The Rarities. That compilation project coincided with her 2020 memoir, titled The Meaning of Mariah Carey, as part of a promotional campaign marking 30 years since her debut album. [8]

Carey did not provide an exact date or formal timeline for the potential launch of the grunge album, leaving the project without a confirmed commercial release schedule. [1]
