English musician Ed Sheeran apologized to fans for making mistakes during his concert at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Saturday, October 17, 2026. ABC News reported that Sheeran addressed the audience after his tour faced controversy earlier in the week, during which he described the current situation in Gaza as catastrophic and unjustifiable. [1]

The remarks followed a decision to remove opening act Macklemore from the tour lineup. According to ABC News, Macklemore was dropped after making pro-Palestinian statements on stage during a previous concert performance in New Jersey. Following Macklemore's removal from the roster, all remaining supporting acts announced their immediate withdrawal from the tour. [1]

Addressing the crowd in Philadelphia, Sheeran stated that he was forced to make difficult decisions over the preceding week. The singer, who originally signed with Asylum Records in 2011, told concertgoers that he regretted how the situation had been handled. [1][2]
