Kacey Musgraves Responds to Kristi Noem After Dallas Concert Guest Appearance

Country music singer Kacey Musgraves hosted Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico as a guest during her concert at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Rolling Stone, Consequence, and Whiskey Riff reported that the appearance occurred over the weekend during a stop on her Middle of Nowhere tour. Rolling Stone reported that Talarico posted social media photos from the show, including a photo taken with Musgraves. [1][2][3]

Following the appearance, former Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem mocked Musgraves on social media platform X. Consequence, Billboard, and Yahoo reported that Noem posted online regarding the singer's political support. Musgraves responded directly to Noem on X, writing that Noem did not have a dog in the fight, but if she did she would have shot it, according to Consequence and Yahoo News UK. [1][2][4][8][9]

Billboard and Yahoo reported that Noem also stated she would select artist Ella Langley over Musgraves. Before the arena performance in Dallas, Musgraves played an unannounced set at The White Horse honky-tonk in Austin, Texas, on October 8, 2026, where she performed country covers for fans, according to Saving Country Music.
