Led Zeppelin has officially approved the song Stairway to Heaven for film play for the first time, JamBase reported. The track features heavily in the trailer for Greta Gerwig's upcoming movie Narnia: The Magician's Nephew, according to JamBase, Ultimate Classic Rock, and K104.7. [1][2][6]
Director Greta Gerwig persuaded band members Jimmy Page and Robert Plant to allow the licensing after meeting with them, Ultimate Classic Rock and Deadline reported. Deadline stated that the band members agreed in part because they also love author C.S. Lewis, whose work forms the basis for the film. Ultimate Classic Rock added that the movie stars Daniel Craig and Meryl Streep. [2][4]
Stairway to Heaven was written by guitarist Jimmy Page and vocalist Robert Plant, and was released by Atlantic Records on 8 November 1971 on the band's untitled fourth album. Led Zeppelin formed in London in 1968 with Page, Plant, bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones, and drummer John Bonham. [7][9]
The movie is scheduled for release on 12 February 2026, Ultimate Classic Rock reported. Gerwig stated that the soundtrack for the film incorporates other musical influences including David Bowie and Todd Rundgren. [2]
