Drummer Deen Castronovo returned to perform with Journey on October 10, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, where the band played a 26-song set. Ultimate Classic Rock reported that Castronovo took his place behind the drumkit after missing most of the band's previous concert due to a medical issue. [1][2]
The return followed an event on October 8, 2026, when Castronovo suffered an unexplained medical emergency two songs into Journey's concert at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ultimate Classic Rock and earlier FTMQ Music reporting confirmed that Castronovo was taken to a hospital, allowing drum tech Steve Toomey to step in so the band could finish the performance. [1][3]
Following the hospital visit, a spokesperson stated that Castronovo had been evaluated by medical staff, as FTMQ Music reported earlier. Guitarist Neal Schon later stated on social media that the drummer was doing great and praised his performance in San Antonio, noting that Castronovo crushed it and was back in rare form. [1][3]
