Singer Chrissie Hynde and Yttling Jazz have released a studio cover of the Doors' 1967 song People Are Strange to streaming services. Stereogum reported that the pair debuted the track on October 9 2026 on the Swedish television program På Spåret, where Yttling Jazz is currently serving as the house band for several weeks. [1]

The track marks a new collaboration between Hynde and Swedish musician Björn Yttling. Stereogum reported that Yttling previously co-wrote and co-produced Hynde's debut solo album, Stockholm, in 2014. Hynde had also revealed in a recent social media post that the cover was scheduled for release. [1]

The original song was written by Jim Morrison and Robby Krieger and appeared on the Doors' second studio album, Strange Days, in September 1967. The track reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and number one on the Canadian RPM chart after its initial release. [2][5]

Hynde is a founding member, lead vocalist, and primary songwriter for the rock band the Pretenders. Yttling is the bassist for the indie rock trio Peter Bjorn and John and co-founded the INGRID record label and artist collective. [3][4]
