Anna Meredith announces new studio album Darling for February release

Scottish composer and electronic musician Anna Meredith announced her new studio album, Darling, on October 6, 2026. According to Pitchfork, the record is set for release on February 12, 2027, through the label Mercury KX. Pitchfork and Stereogum both reported that Meredith has shared the lead single, Dusky, accompanied by a stop motion music video. [1][2][3][4][7]

Pitchfork quoted Meredith stating that the project represents a channeling of intensity, energy, and euphoria designed to summon motion, tension, and release. Stereogum noted that Meredith has previously released the bumper car sound installation Bumps Per Minute: 18 Studies For Dodgems, as well as a collaboration with the string quartet Ligeti Quartet titled Nuc. Meredith is a former composer in residence with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and a former PRS and RPS Composer in the House with Sinfonia ViVA. Clash Magazine reported that her 2019 album, Fibs, received a Mercury Prize nomination and noted that she was awarded an MBE for her services to music. [4][8]

In addition to her standalone studio projects, Meredith has composed film soundtracks. According to Clash Magazine, her work includes scoring the upcoming feature film Wicker, which stars Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgard. [1][4]
