Stereogum reported that Cincinnati musician Curt Kiser, who records indie rock under the name Carriers, released a cover version of Look At Miss Ohio. Kiser recorded the track following Dr. Amy Acton's victory in the Ohio governor race on Tuesday night. [1]
According to Stereogum, Kiser stayed up until 4:30 AM to track the cover after the election results were announced. Kiser stated that Acton had been an inspiration to him since she delivered daily public health updates regarding COVID-19 numbers on television with care. [1]
Look At Miss Ohio was originally released on June 9, 2003, on the album Soul Journey by singer-songwriter Gillian Welch on Acony Records. The song was written as a collaboration between Welch and her long-term musical partner, guitarist and record producer David Rawlings. [2][3][4]
Welch and Rawlings previously won the Grammy Award for Best Folk Album for All the Good Times in 2021 and for Woodland in 2025. They are currently the only duo to win the Best Folk Album Grammy Award more than once. [3]
