Brian Borcherdt has released a new single titled Black Tattoo under his lo-fi indie rock project, Dusted. Stereogum reported the release on 6 November 2026. Borcherdt is best known as a member of the Toronto dance-rock group Holy Fuck. [1]

The track was recorded live to a vintage Tascam 388 recording system. Stereogum reported that Alex Edkins, a guitarist known for his work with Metz and Weird Nightmare, provided guitar assistance on the recording. [1]

The recording process required multiple takes because no click tracks were used on the record. Borcherdt stated that each performance tended to speed up, but the band ultimately selected the initial take for the final release. [1]

A song with the same title was previously released in Australia. Black Tattoo was released by the Australian rock band Grinspoon on 30 June 2007 through the Grudge label as the lead single from their album Alibis and Other Lies. [2]
