Bruce Springsteen and Tom Morello led an all-star jam session to close out the inaugural Power to the People Festival in Maryland, Rolling Stone and Consequence both reported. Rolling Stone noted that the event was held in Maryland and curated by Morello. According to Rolling Stone and Consequence, Springsteen performed an eight-song set of protest anthems featuring guest appearances from Dave Grohl, Dave Matthews, Joan Baez, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Morello. [1][3]
Rolling Stone and Consequence reported that Springsteen opened his set solo with Streets of Minneapolis, a protest song written in tribute to Ren e Good and Alex Pretti. According to Consequence, Joan Baez joined Springsteen for a cover of Bob Dylan's Chimes of Freedom, before Morello joined for performances of The Clash's Clampdown and The Ghost of Tom Joad. [1][3]
Springsteen was then joined by Matthews and Rateliff to cover Creedence Clearwater Revival's Fortunate Son, which Rolling Stone reported Springsteen had not performed live since 2009. Rolling Stone and Consequence both reported that the set concluded with Springsteen performing a cover of Neil Young's Rockin' in the Free World alongside Grohl, Matthews, Morello, and the rest of the day's performers. [1][3]
The festival featured several other notable performances throughout the day, according to Consequence.
