Bradford Cox has released Octoberland, marking the first new music from his solo project Atlas Sound in 15 years, Consequence and Pitchfork reported on 30 October 2026. The new track arrives alongside a self-directed music video, according to Consequence and Pitchfork. [1][3]

The release follows Cox's return to live performance in September 2026 at the Making Time festival in Philadelphia, Stereogum and Pitchfork reported. Stereogum noted that the appearance was his first proper performance in seven years, while Pitchfork noted he had not performed live since 2019, aside from an impromptu noise set in Athens, Georgia, in 2023. At the Philadelphia festival, Cox played an eight-song set of all-new material using brass bells, a bass guitar, and a Roland SP-404 sampler, Pitchfork reported. [2][3]

Bradford James Cox is an American singer-songwriter and musician, best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the indie rock band Deerhunter, which he formed in 2001. Stereogum and Pitchfork both noted his work with Deerhunter bandmate Lockett Pundt. [2][3][8]

Consequence reported that Atlas Sound has scheduled several festival appearances for 2027. The upcoming dates include performances at the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, the Kilby Block Party in Salt Lake City, and Primavera Sound in Barcelona. [1]
