Spanish punk rock trio Airbag performed full concert sets made up entirely of Weezer songs in the early 2000s, Consequence reported. The band discussed their early cover project during an interview with the Spanish music publication CrazyMinds. They played five or six tribute shows during that period, including one dedicated to Weezer's self-titled 2001 release, also known as The Green Album. [1][5]
The group started the tribute project while establishing themselves in the Spanish punk rock scene. Airbag member Pedro Camacho explained that the band wanted to be like the Rivers Cuomo-led American rock group during their formative years. The tribute performances took place long before the band released their ninth studio album. [1][5]
American rock band Weezer originally formed in the 1990s and released their debut studio album on May 10, 1994, through DGC Records. That debut record was produced by Ric Ocasek. [7]
