The rightsholders of Elvis Presley have filed a 41 million dollar lawsuit against artificial intelligence company Anthropic on October 24, 2026. Rolling Stone and Billboard both report that Authentic Brands Group, which controls the licensing for Presley music and likeness, filed the lawsuit in federal court. [1][3]

The lawsuit alleges that Anthropic infringed on the rights of 274 Presley songs to train its artificial intelligence models, including its assistant Claude. Lawyers for the plaintiffs stated that the rightsholders are deeply protective of the iconic songs, according to Rolling Stone and Billboard. [1][3]

Billboard first reported the legal action against the technology firm. Rolling Stone reports that artificial intelligence companies have previously faced similar copyright lawsuits from major record labels, including Universal Music Group. [1][3]
