The American indie pop band Muna escaped safely after their tour bus caught fire in Burbank, California, on October 19, 2026. Pitchfork, Consequence, and Stereogum reported that the incident occurred while the group was traveling on their Gets So Hot Tour. Pitchfork and Consequence both confirmed that no one was injured during the vehicle fire. [1][2][5]
According to Consequence, the California Highway Patrol received a call around 8:20 a.m. regarding a bus on fire on the southbound 5 Freeway. Local news network KTLA reported that the driver was initially unaware of the flames before pulling the vehicle over. Pitchfork noted that band members later appeared on KTLA 5 local news. [1][2]
The band confirmed in an Instagram post that everyone aboard was safe, although many personal items were lost in the blaze, Pitchfork and Consequence reported. In a comment under the post, band member Naomi McPherson joked about looking for a warlock to undo a curse that was wreaking havoc on her life. Pitchfork reported that McPherson had been absent from several of the group's shows last month. [1][2]
Muna consists of Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin, and Naomi McPherson. The group released two studio albums with RCA Records, About U in 2017 and Saves the World in 2019, before signing with the independent label Saddest Factory Records. The label released their self-titled third studio album in June 2022 and Dancing on the Wall in May 2026. [6]
