Elvis Costello releases five disc anniversary box set for debut album

Elvis Costello has released a five-disc box set titled My Aim Is True (49th Anniversary Edition), Rolling Stone and AOL both report. Rolling Stone reported that Costello discussed the new release during an episode of the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast. [1][5]

The box set includes a remaster of his original 1977 album, alongside acoustic recordings from 1975 and 1976 titled The Blue Print, according to Rolling Stone. It also features previously unreleased demos and country outtakes. [1]

Costello recorded his debut album in just over 24 hours while working as a computer operator, Rolling Stone reported. The original album was recorded over six four-hour sessions at Pathway Studios in Islington, London, produced by Nick Lowe and released on 22 July 1977 by Stiff Records. [1][6]

Before adopting the stage name Elvis Costello, Declan Patrick MacManus worked at the cosmetics firm Elizabeth Arden while playing pub rock shows under the name D.P. Costello. Stiff Records suggested changing his name to Elvis and adjusting his image to align with the punk rock movement. [6][8][9]
